A Middle School Option___

Trinity Catholic Middle School (TCMS) is set off Newfield Avenue on the 26 acre campus that includes Trinity Catholic High School, St Gabriel Church and St John Fisher Seminary. It serves grades 6-8 and now has an enrollment of 240 students.

TCMS offers two major strengths. One is that the spiritual component is integrated into all phases of school life. In addition to daily religious classes, students attend a weekly Mass plus various devotions and sacramental opportunities provided throughout the school year. Secondly, as a parochial school discipline is well maintained and academic classes are held without serious behavioral issues causing disruption. This concentration on learning and self development is done with each child's future in mind.

The school day begins at 7:40 am and dismissal is at 1:45 pm. In between students attend classes in the core academic subjects of English (grammar, vocabulary & writing), literature, history, mathematics, science and foreign language, either Spanish or Italian. In addition there are opportunities in music, art, computers and physical education. There are twelve classrooms plus the multipurpose room that serves as the gym and lunch room. The library is available for research and study. The faculty twenty teacher, two administrators and two administrative assistants is supported by an active group of parent volunteers. For example, a recent Student Appreciation Day was held and parents served students an ice cream treat. TCMS has a warm, family atmosphere.

The after-school program is designed so that students may stay until 5 p.m. Currently offered are a music instrumental program, homework club, yearbook, MathCounts, game club and girl scouts. A variety of sports programs are also available including boy's football, girl's cheerleading, girls volleyball, boy's and girl's basketball, ice hockey, boy's baseball and girl's softball.

During a recent visit Deputy Principal, Mr. Steven Terenzio, talked proudly of their graduates. For example, over the last two years both the salutatorian and valedictorian at Trinity Catholic High School were products of TCMS. Others have gone on to Fairfield Prep, Notre Dame of Fairfield, Laurelton Hall in Milford and Regis High School in Manhattan.

Entrance to TCMS is by application. The entrance exam for next years class will be held on March 1. For further information about Trinity Catholic Middle School you can visit www.trinitycatholicms.org, or call 322-7383.
