DAVENPORT RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The staff and students are rising to the challenges at Davenport Ridge Elementary School on Newfield Avenue. There are approximately 512 students being taught by 30 classroom teachers with 16 Educational Assistants. The regular school day begins at 9 a.m. Normal dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. In between many activities take place.

The school benefits from 3 Reading Specialists, a Math Specialist and 2 ESL teachers.  The guide and assist the regular teachers and provide supplemental materials. They are in tune with the requirements of the CMT’s and help teachers focus on the skills needed to do well on these tests, especially for those students that have scored below the state goal.

The support staff includes 4 Music teachers, 3 Physical Ed teachers, 2 Art teachers, a Library Media Specialist, 2 Occupational Therapists, a Physical Therapist, an Individual Learning Needs Coach, a Speech Therapist, a Psychologist and a Social Worker.

An after-school enrichment program is made available free to all students twice a year for 6 weeks each. Art. science, writing, physical education and chess are some of the offerings. In addition, co-curricular activities are band, chorus and student council.

One classroom is home to New Arrivals. The emphasis in this room is on learning the English language. Students are new to our country coming from all over the world. Once students pass a language test they are moved into a regular classroom.

This school benefits from a supportive P.T.O. group. Funds are raised and donated for field trips and special programs such as visiting authors and speakers.
